Zespol Szkol im. Jana Pawla II w Zbuczynie
Zespół Szkół w Zbuczynie is a comprehensive school , it has more than 500 students and 50 teachers and includes: a pre-school teaching classes, where children start at the age of 5, a primary school for children aged 6-12 and a secondary school for students aged 13-15.
Our school offers opportunities for those more talented as well as children with special needs. We have students with mild mental retardation and with some disabilities and behavioral problems. For students who have any difficulties we organize extra classes where they can practice more, get help with their homework. The talented ones have variety of extra-curricular classes to choose from . We offer extra classes such as: sport (
different disciplines to choose ), art, recitation, modern dance, choir, charity section and scout groups. We also organize school trips which let students know their country see different regions, learn geography or history in a much more practical way. At school we celebrate together Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, the First Day of Spring, Teacher`s Day, Valentine's Day, our School`s Patron Day, etc. and organize discos and theme parties for students. We also have various charity actions in order to help other people- sick, poor or disabled. The school’s priority is to improve the school management and teaching-learning methods according to EU priorities and to use these to create an educationally motivating environment. The teachers and school staff encourage students to grow as individuals and become good citizens of the United Europe. Among other things, our school takes part in various European projects, such as: Comenius, My Future, e-Twinning, After School Meetings etc.
Our school is located in an agricultural village in the eastern part of Poland. It is situated in a socio- economically deprived area. The environment our students come from is pretty diverse. We have many pupils whose parents live on the edge of the poverty, students coming from, so called, pathological families with alcoholic and violence problems, or raised by one parent only. Most of the families here are farmers with a very low income. Many people are also unemployed, supported in different ways by the government and other social and charity institutions. Moreover, our students come from more than 15 small villages, where there’s no access to cultural facilities.
Mentioned above students are badly motivated and have serious problems with learning and doing other school duties. Trying to prevent social exclusion of these students in the future, the school is involved in variety of prevention or prophylactic programmes, which aim is to create and reinforce positive attitude patterns. Taking part in an Erasmus+ project would give disadvantaged students the opportunity to improve their results in learning as well as experience other European cultures and traditions.
We expect that the project will result in integration, firstly among students in their respective schools, and then among students between partner schools as they will work together to achieve the same common goals. Moreover, we deeply hope that the activities we are going to do with students will promote and teach tolerance and mutual respect. We also expect from this cooperation to increase our students’ social and linguistic development and self- dependence.
